Cornwall was at the forefront of mining for tin during the 1800's. Following the importation of foreign metals, the value of tin dropped and did not cover the cost of mining it from deep in the ground. This story is located on the east coast near the town of St. Keverne where a few miners scraped a living. We follow the inhabitants' lives as they struggled to survive. A rocky reef known as the Manacles juts out for half a mile from the coastline and is only seen at low tide. Often, ships would become its victim. So, as the story begins you will discover how greed and poverty go hand in hand. Who would have imagined it would lead to one of the most horrifying episodes ever recorded.
