Grampire is a fun story about a vampire who is also a fun grandpa. The story is told through the scrapbook / journal of a young boy who is on holiday with his sister at their Grampire's castle. Grampire's many friends arrive at the castle and they all have fun putting together a talent show to entertain one another. But things don't got to plan and that is where the real fun begins.
The story highlights themes like team work, communication, friendship and having fun IRL (in reall life). Also finding ways to explore skills and that practice will help make you better at doing something.
The book, like the story indside, is different to a lot of other childrens books, so if you are looking for a book which a breath of fresh air, this is the book for you.
Grampire is not a scary book but there are vampire, wolf man and zombie themes in the book. There are elements of comic books, making this a nice entry into the world of comic books for young people who amaybe too young to have encountered this genre yet. But you don't have to be a fan of comic books to enjoy Grampire.
The authors hold a long time love of horror films from the 1940's. Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolfman and Frankenstein have all influenced their imaginations since they were young. Actors like Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff were fascinating to them, but also the American comedies of the 1960's which were also influenced by these films TV shows like The Munsters and The Addams Family added an element of fun, which has also helped to shape this story. All the illustrations have been hand drawn by Ann. There has been no use of AI in the production of this story or the images which help to bring it to life.
