Handmaid- A Play

Set in Little Havana, Miami. Cuban immigrant and fledgling artist, Rodriguez DeSilva has twenty-four hours remaining to fulfill the requirements of a commission he's received to create a replica of the famous Velazquez painting, "Las Meninas" in his dead father's honor. Rodriguez resents the project's requirement to paint a replica.

When pressure from his family and his ambitious girlfriend becomes too great, Rodriguez turns to drinking and painting everything but his commission blurring the line between Las Meninas, his paintings, the past and present. Visits from his disapproving deceased father and Velazquez himself don't help as Rodriguez struggles to find his identity, his artistic voice, and reality within dreams.
