Exposing the K-12 Hidden Curriculum on Diversity

The purpose of this book is to illustrate the use of photographs of school artifacts found in classrooms, hallways and school grounds to expose the teachings of the K-12 hidden curriculum regarding diversity. The photograph on the front cover is the first school artifact encountered by students - a street sign announcing the school crossing up ahead. A close look at the photograph shows the male figure extending his arm to grasp arm of the female figure. Chivalry or chauvinism? A sign of assistance or a symbol to send the gender message of male dominance? The book focuses on the interpretations of school artifacts and explores what is ahead for K-12 students in the artifacts of the hidden diversity curriculum.
