An enigmatic message plunges the History Hunters into a three-century old mystery as they race against an unseen foe and an ancient curse in their search for the lost treasure of Captain Kidd. Preston Masters and his two prep school friends, Kim Oh and Jay Wray, are looking forward to a holiday after a week of grueling exams. Preston’s father arranges a trip to the home of world-renowned historian and antiquities dealer, Geoffrey Barnsworth, for the annual Pirate Days celebration in East Hampton on Long Island. Aided by their new friend, Geoffrey, the schoolmates solve the clue only to find that it leads them on a twisting and turning chase in the very footsteps of Captain Kidd – and ever deeper into danger. An unknown adversary watches their every move from the shadows. Using deceit, theft, and even kidnapping, the antagonist stays one step ahead in the desperate race to discover the secret resting place of the treasure.
