Numbers Count! Count Up to 9 is a story-coloring-activity book to help children learn the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. When the NUMBERS (0 - 9) adventure out to explore if it would be even more fun to be letters, they encounter lots of things to count along the way. Dr. Marty Epstein, the author, became interested in math education when one of her children struggled in a math class in school. Although she was able to support both children when they encountered hiccups in their k-12 math education (one son went on to major in math in college and the other majored in physics), she worried other children might not be so fortunate. After translating her Harvard MBA and MS in psychology (Penn State) into a career in survey research and data analysis, Marty became so interested in how young children learn math and what can derail them that she earned a PhD in Math Education and is published in the field. She would like nothing more than to share what she’s learned through crafting math books for budding mathematicians.
