This work truly taxed me in many ways. Never before in my lifetime have, I witnessed nor been in the midst of a pandemic. Sure, there was the AIDs epidemic. But, apart from risky behavior there was no immediate risk for me. But this situation was beyond anything I had witnessed. A highly contagious virus threatened the world, not just certain populations. But, in it all I had an awakening of God and His peace. Yet, in all that transpired my faith was tested. We are all strong in faith if challenges arise that we can tackle. But what happens when things arise that can kill us without effort? This was the scenario with COVID-19. Something was unleashed upon us that was unheard of. People were dying at an alarming rate. It was being politicized while the funeral services were overwhelmed. Then the unthinkable happened. We in America realized that there was no difference in death for those who agreed with vaccination and those who didn't. I witnessed people adamant about not getting vaccinated that didn't expire. Yet members of their immediate family did because of them carrying the virus. Then I witnessed those who were still hospitalized after being vaccinated. But they didn't die because of the vaccine even though other health maladies often ensued. All in all, I was blessed tremendously by the lessons taught during this season and the trying of my faith. There is no way anyone can tell me that it is easy to walk in faith when those beside you drop like flies. I praise God for His wisdom, mercy and grace during "Once Upon a Time Called COVID" ...
