Honest Harvest

Years of poor crops, corporate consolidation and falling grain prices have morphed the town of Eastgate from idyllic farming community to isolated pocket of desperation. While remnants of the generous, communal life linger, the deepening daily struggle makes neighbourly compassion scarcer each day. Into this distressed society slips a shadowy financial demon intent on siphoning out the last remnants of wealth. Removal from the world seemed the only possible route for Jake Pertenko - he long ago resolved to living quietly and numbly far from everything. However, the unexpected arrival of joyful souls into his life, followed by his father's death, thrust him back into society. He may be unprepared to handle the opportunistic evil invading Eastgate.

Arnold Patterson's seeking of an easier path has led him to Eastgate where his parasitic business earns him sparse returns and fleeting respect. When smarter financial hunters target him, his desperation and over-confidence may combine to create a harsh downfall.

As the teetering town's primary source of law enforcement, Tricia Cardinal is well versed in policing car crashes, domestic violence, and barroom brawls. Yet she may be ill-equipped to stop the looming, sophisticated scheme hell-bent on ruining the lives she is meant to protect.
