On Celebration Day Emma Pureheart and her best friend Rina join students all across Salvoa in choosing a Career Path to study. Emma strives for a path where she can help people, and pushed her evaluations hard to get choices that would present those opportunities.

In the new school year she and Rina are joined by a group of new friends-Skye, Chase, Van, and Denis-and the duo's dynamics shift. They welcome their new friends, but it quickly becomes apparent that not all of their personalities fit together well.
