My Hero Hurts!! is a study guide for teenagers whose parent may have combat trauma. This book tells the stories of military families and their experiences dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The dads in these stories are the ones facing PTSD/TBI issues, but the material applies just as well to women facing these issues. Christ-centered solutions are presented for the issues the families face. The book contains information about PTSD, TBI and Secondary Trauma as well as worksheets to assess what is happening in families who may have combat trauma issues. Questions for small group study, personal application and encouragement are part of each chapter. The material in this book is Christ-centered and has a firm foundation in Scripture, but will be useful to all teens whether they are of the Christian faith or not. This is book three in a series of children’s books produced by Cru Military, a division of Campus Crusade for Christ. The first book, My Hero’s Home!! is for K-3rd grade children, and the second book, Helping My Hero!! is for 4th-6th graders. All the books follow the same structure used in the book When War Comes Home, by Chris and Rahnella Adsit and Marshele Carter Waddell, which is a workbook for wives of combat veterans dealing with PTSD or TBI. Table of Contents: Dear Readers…Dear Small Group Leaders…Foreword1) Understanding: What happened to Dad?2) Assessing: What’s happening to me?3) Grieving: Why am I so sad?4) Forgiving: Why am I so angry?5) Securing: Why don’t I feel safe?6) Healing: Where can I go for help?7) Confessing: What should I do first?8) Seeking: Does anyone care?9) Focus: Is what I do important?10) Preparing: Who is the enemy?11) Contributing: How can we help?12) Caring: How can hurting teens be helped?13) Dreaming: Is there an end?Additional Resources
