There have been many courageous women in history-Joan of Arc, Florence Nightingale and Eleanor Roosevelt, to name just a few. The women in these stories exhibit great determination and courage to overcome their individual obstacles. The first woman, Bernadine Hurley, marries a West Point Cadet. However, shortly after the honeymoon her husband changes dramatically and is engrossed only in his career and having a son to carry on his name. After her husband’s death, watch what happens to Bernadine. The second lady, Frances Ann Taylor, a graduate of architectural school, gets involved with a rock band and heads onto a downward path of drugs and booze. The State takes her child away from her as she nearly winds up in jail. Determined to rise up from apparent defeat, Frances starts her recovery by scrubbing floors. She overcomes numerous obstacles as she fights to rebuild her life and regain custody of her daughter. The third lady, Katherine Kincaid, was born to a single mother, who tries to hide Katherine from the world because of the hideous birthmark that deforms her face. At eighteen, while working in the laundry room of the local hospital, Katherine meets a doctor who will transform her life. After a long struggle, she rises to the top of the medical world and establishes a career in India helping the poorest of the poor, as Mother Theresa called the people of Calcutta.
