Tale of a Copper Penny is about a penny that "experiences" the 20th Century from pre-WW1 through the early 1990s. As an anthropomorphic viewpoint, the penny provides a unique vantage point of how the United States went from a pre-industrial country to a mighty powerhouse with a man on the moon and beyond.
