Perry was unique. With a PhD in Clinical Psychology earned at age twenty-seven, he worked in various mental health service settings for about ten years before he "dropped out". With his wife Georgia, he "hit the road" on a motorcycle, towing a small trailer, their "home" for seven years. He carried a portable typewriter to record observations from their travels for his Collection of Chapters. Thus began an eighteen-year adventure that Perry considered "tuning in" to a life of unusual travel and opportunities for adventure, from being a big game hunter to a fishing guide to a snowmobile and desert jeep tour guide, to the captain and narrator of a fifty-passenger cruise boat, and beyond. At the conclusion of the celebration in their twenty-fifth anniversary tour with their twenty-six-foot sailboat Raven's Magic, by accident or a miracle, Perry and Georgia found their first and forever home in Pocatello, Idaho, where Georgia continues to live at their beloved El Rancho.
