It’s always prime time for a summer rhyme!Who doesn’t have fond memories of the last day of school? The weather is the warmest it’s been all year, the days are long and sunny, and there’s a sense that something is calling… that something called summer.

Whether it’s grilling hot dogs and burgers on the BBQ, playing make-believe superhero, camping out and eating s'mores, or spending lazy afternoons in your club house, there is nothing like summer! And the poems of Summertime Rhyme capture all of your favorite moments and memories of the sunniest season of all.

But not only that, the illustrations in this book are the work of kids who see the bright side of life as a result of surviving a darker side of life - cancer. No one knows the fun of summer like a child who’s had to miss it, being isolated from friends while undergoing cancer treatment. These delightful illustrations depict their vision of summertime, when hope is as big as the bright, blue skies.

Social Motion Publishing is proud to call Hopecam our official nonprofit partner for this book. Since 2003, Hopecam has connected kids isolated during cancer treatment with their friends, family, classmates, and teachers through video technology. As challenging and difficult as battling cancer is, children suffer additional emotional hardship from the isolation - in fact, some of them find it the worst part. Hopecam’s program has changed this, making it possible for kids of all income levels and demographics to stay connected during their treatment. Video technology seems unremarkable in this day and age, but 70% of Hopecam’s children live below the poverty level, where access to video communication is not ordinary. The illustrations in this book were drawn by kids who have survived cancer and gone through Hopecam’s program. They thank you for your support and urge you to visit Hopecam.org to learn more.
