Beyond the Brushstrokes

This romantic coming-of-age love story shows how transitioning into adulthood is more difficult for some than others. Our biggest challenge in life is learning to trust in ourselves. Jadyn was unaware her decision to take a summer away from home would shape her destiny in its entirety. If only the joy it created would have lasted longer and not included some of the most painful times of her young life.

Sometimes the voices in our heads are righteous and then there are the ugly, shameful, unsettled thoughts we're embarrassed to admit originated within us. It's difficult to forgive people who've wronged us. It is more difficult to forgive ourselves for our own immoral actions. Even though we did them to stop an impending, emotional drowning.

This time of a young woman's life is her Season of Indecision and thankfully one that doesn't last a lifetime.

Trust in oneself comes from accepting we're all flawed and trying again after we fail. This perspective helps to work through what comes of our failures, and uncovers unknown traits we possess, as they emerge from the debris left behind by the ramifications of our actions. As we unravel the tangled threads stitched between us and repair the damage to people we hurt; intentionally or not, trust remains elusive.

When it seems the world is against you, self-pity can lead to salvation or damnation. Learning to balance pleasing oneself with pleasing others is vital. Accepting our own actions, leads us to the toughest judge of all, ourselves.

Our life stories are of our own making, paintings we show the world. Some stories, too sensitive, remain private and locked away hidden from observers, camouflaged beyond the brushstrokes.
