Graham Rendoth is an artist, designer, educator, photographer and writer, Graham’s work has appeared in many publications. His first book of drawings, As a Boy, was published in 1984. Other books and edition publications have since been published. Born in the Australian rural town of Tamworth, Graham grew up in the suburbs of Sydney, went to Punchbowl Boys High School and studied Visual Communications at Sydney College of the Arts. He is founder of Reno Design creative consultancy, located in the heart of Sydney, a city that continues to inspire him.
The images in this book were mostly made in ‘down-time’, which seems to be when Graham Rendoth watches television, or finds himself in a bush camp or at a cafe, or he’s waiting for a flight. There is a relaxed attitude seen in his own posture, and an easy relationship to the immediate space and with the incidental objects he finds himself with.
Produced in a range of materials that include pencils, technical pens, biros, textas, dipped ink, crayons, paint, etching processes, and iPad apps, these 114 drawings show a range of distractions - some large, others small.
