Captain Blood is the exciting 1922 classic adventure novel written by Rafael Sabatini in which the amiable and sharp-witted Dr. Peter Blood, an Irish physician, is wrongfully convicted of treason in the aftermath of the Monmouth rebellion of 1685. He is then enslaved on the Caribbean island of Barbados where he escapes to become the feared Admiral of his own fleet of pirate ships. Peter Blood, a fictional character, is based heavily on the true adventurous and famous career of Sir Henry Morgan.
