Prayers in Dialogue provides a responsive prayer for every Sunday of the church year in Series A. Reflecting the themes from the gospel texts, this worship aid is appropriate for use in congregations following either the Common (Consensus) or the Lutheran lectionary. Each prayer calls for participation by the presiding minister, a worship assistant, and the congregation. A special feature offers prayers for the lighting of the four candles of the Advent wreath. In congregations where copies are not purchased for every worshiper, purchase of single copies includes permission to duplicate each Sunday’s prayer for distribution with the Sunday bulletin. For congregations where copies are purchased in quantity, a gift page provided in the front of each copy can be used to indicate the name(s) of individuals who contributed the book for placement in the pew. C. David Godshall is pastor of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Allentown, Pennsylvania. Previously having served St. Mark Lutheran Church, Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, and St. Luke Lutheran Church, Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, he is a pastor in the Lutheran Church in America. A graduate of Muhlenberg College and The Lutheran Seminary at Philadelphia, he is married and the father of three daughters. The present series of three prayer books of which the present volume is a part is an extension of a similar publication based on a single-year lectionary that Pastor Godshall authored for publication by CSS Publishing Company in 1972.
