If this was an art exhibit, it would have been called a retrospective. The poems are culled from some seventy years of the author’s writing about everyday life and world events. Their subjects include celebrating holidays, moving, the weather, trees, visiting museums and other places. They are a celebration of the enjoyment of life and the delights of living in harmony with nature. In this collection, Muth shows readers that there are no boundaries in the field of imagination. Marcia Muth is a writer and an American folk artist. Even though she is internationally recognized as an artist-her paintings are in the permanent collections of several museums and in many private collections-poetry has been her way of recording her life experiences since she was a child. Poetry has served me well as a way to respond to people, places and events in the world. It is my second language, she says. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1919 and grew up in Indiana and western New York State. She received degrees from the University of Michigan and has lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico since 1966. She is also the author of A World Set Apart, Memory Paintings;
Writing and Selling Poetry, Fiction, Articles, Plays & Local History;
How to Paint and Sell Your Art;
Indian Pottery of the Southwest; Kachinas, A Selected Bibliography;
Ma Frump’s Cultural Guide to Plastic Gardening which won a first place award in the 2008 New Mexico Book Awards; Post Card Views and Other Souvenirs, Poems;
Thin Ice and Other Poems;
Sticks and Stones and Other Poems; and Words and Images, Poems, all from Sunstone Press. Her biography, Left Early, Arrived Late, by Teddy Jones, also from Sunstone Press, was published in 2008. In 2006, she was named a Santa Fe Living Treasure in recognition of her many accomplishments.
