Changing Women, Changing Worlds: Evangelical Women in Church, Community and Politics

Women in Northern Ireland are notably active in the community and political endeavours that are furthering the peace process. Many of them are also very involved in church life. This book explores, by means of in-depth interviews and astutue commentary, the contribution evangelical women are making to civic life in Northern Ireland. Increased involvement in all aspects of society is part of the overall shift in the position of women and the ongoing challenge to traditional attitudes that kept them in the background. Hearing what women themselves have to say is vital, and Dr Fran Porter has conducted in-depth interviews with 70 women.
