Assessing Federal Research and Development for Hazard Loss Reduction

The economic costs of natural hazards are escalating, with rising population in high-risk areas and an increasingly complex infrastructure. Federal funding supports research on weather hazards, with little research on long-term loss reduction approaches. Remedies for this are discussed here.
