Beyond the Cold War: Superpowers at the Crossroads

Since the rise to power of Mikhail Gorbachev, observers increasingly question whether the Cold War is over. This volume brings together a representative group of interpreters of the Cold War to address some of the recurrent questions that divide both scholars and politicians. Some critics of the Bush administration accuse it of showing more nostalgia for old patterns of thinking than finding ways of responding to changes in Soviet-American relations and scholars differ on key issues concerning the end of the Cold War and what will take its place.
