Every Day Is New

In Every Day is New, Michael McGirr invites readers to put aside a little time on the weekdays during Ordinary Time to read the Gospel of the Day and to ponder where God might be at work, and at play, in the ordinary experiences that soak up our time. Ordinary Time refers to the 33 or 34 weeks of the year that are neither Advent, Lent nor Easter time. It includes over half the year and embraces many special days and feasts.

Included in each week is a simple image--a picture of graffiti or street art that act as a prompt or point of reference for the day's reflection. These images are reminders that we are part of a broader community where everyone is trying to create an environment of meaning. They are included as an invitation to keep looking outwards as well as inwards.

In Every Day is New is written in the belief that 'every day is new'. God fills the present with a song, a fragrance, a whisper, a touch. We are blessed if we can appreciate God's more subtle flavors. That is what prayer is for. Every Day is New is proof that there is nothing 'ordinary' about Ordinary Time and will enrich everyone who reads it.
