More Colorful Egg Pattern Favorites to Go For, 2005, by Gregory L. Blackstock (American, b. 1946) Graphite, crayon, permanent marker, and colored pencil on paper, 256.5 x 124.5 cm (101 x 49 in.)
For Seattle artist Gregory L. Blackstock, who is autistic, the world is made up of countless things needing to be identified, ordered, and arranged—be they turkeys or cougars, flags or fireworks. Creating art has become his outlet for defining an unpredictable world. Once he chooses a subject, he seeks to record all the variations within that group, to make the artwork “complete.” This process yields intricately tiled and labeled freehand drawings that span multiple pieces of paper added with tape and glue.
Blackstock began drawing regularly in his early forties. Since his first solo art show in 2004 at age fifty-eight, his list-like drawings have captivated art lovers worldwide. His work has been shown in Geneva, Paris, New York, Vienna, Philadelphia, Miami, and Seattle. The prestigious Collection de l’Art Brut in Lausanne, Switzerland, holds an impressive assortment of Blackstock’s work.
Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, our 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning and unusual images, and sturdy construction to delight generations of novice and veteran puzzleworkers.
