For lecturers and postgraduates in geology and petrology, the book provides reference for the interpretation of metamorphic rocks, with an extensive list of references relevant to each chapter, and a comprehensive glossary of terms.;The first of the three sections provides an introduction to metamorphism and metamorphic rocks, and for this edition it has been enlarged to include more detail on the basic inter-relationships between equilibrium assemblages, mineral chemistry and microstructures in the interpretation of metamorphic reactions. The second section presents the fundamental textures and microstructures of metamorphic rocks, and the last examines inter-relationships between deformation, metamorphism and microstructures, including chapters on strain-related microstructures, shear-sense indicators and veining.
