Deliberative Democracy: Issues and Cases

Liberal democracy around the world is in crisis; for many, deliberative democracy is the solution. But there are still gaps in the case for deliberative democracy that need to be resolved before it can be sufficiently developed to be put into practice. In this collection, leading democratic theorists and empiricists address 10 of these crucial issues. They outline the problems, survey the suggested solutions to them and find new ways to resolve the issues. Each chapter takes a key issue as its focus, looking at issues such as conflict, inequality, pluralism, participation and the public sphere.
