Christians can find courage to engage society with bold and gracious attitudes if they believe that God is sovereign and has a plan for tomorrow. Divergent politics, immigration issues, bullying, re-defining family, racism, terrorism, new ways of categorising people, and multiple other issues are negatively impacting society today. Some people feel like the country they live in today isn’t the same country they lived in twenty years ago. Our society is consistently changing and many Christians are nervous about what tomorrow will bring. However, we don’t need to be nervous about what tomorrow holds, because we serve the God of Tomorrow. Society will always change, but God never changes. Today’s shifting society is pretty chaotic and tomorrow seems like it could be worse. But God owns tomorrow. He prepared tomorrow, is already there, and will journey with us into tomorrow. God will help us engage our ever-shifting culture as we journey forward. Even though society is always changing, every cultural issue we struggle with today is something that Jesus, Peter, and Paul dealt with in their day. Yet Jesus, Peter, and Paul trusted the God of Tomorrow, believed he was in complete control, and pointed people to the new world to come. Because of their faith in God, they engaged society in a very intentional way, and we can do likewise.
