Before the age of 9, life for Teresa Tarpley was a blur. Moving away from the projects in Fort Worth, Texas didn’t make her life better. In fact, that’s when the violence began. Pushed to the background in the shadow of her older brother, depression plagued her from an early age. Rejected and desperate for love and acceptance, she made choices that eventually led to a downward spiral of drugs, sex and abuse. When her third child was born addicted to crack, CPS got involved. Something had to change. But would she have the strength to finally end the mess she’d made and turn her life around?
