The Passover: Old Truths for Today’s World

Emerging from the shrouded past of antiquities, the regular celebration of the Feast of the Passover causes the participating Jewish family to solemnly reflect upon the demonstration of the omnipotent power of Jehovah while the Christian, as a spectator, rejoices in its more subtle depiction of the Sacrificial Lamb of God. There is no observance, no ceremony, that quite parallels this unique ritual of fellowship. The communion shared at the Lord’s Table is of no less importance scripturally, but sadly though, it is not generally shared by the mass of communicants with the same awesome awareness of God’s divine authority as occurs among those of the orthodox Jewish persuasion at Passover. Why is this so? What is there about the Passover that causes even the most casual observer of the Jewish-Christian traditions to have a momentary pause of contemplation?
