Jerry Koch is an outdoorsman and geologist who has spent much of his life hunting, fishing, mountain climbing, scuba diving, whitewater rafting and enjoying nature. As a geologist he has conducted research in many fields, explored for oil and gas in most of the U S and several foreign countries, taught at college level and in industry courses and published technical papers. With a Bachelors Degree in Geology from Washington State University and Masters and PhD Degrees from Harvard he freely admits that he is educated beyond his intelligence. As this entire raccoon experiment unfolded, he applied the principles of gathering observations, then making interpretations to modify his actions to fit the developing situations. Somewhere, the scientist became hooked on the emotions of interacting with the cute little critters. The seeds for this book were planted and germinated. This, his first book, has evolved from a personal scientific research project to an expression of love between humans and these sweet wild friends that he is now sharing with others.
