Junie escapes an abusive marriage, confronts Appalachain cultural biases and sexual harrassment and attack, finding her independence and self-esteem. Junie’s rise celebrates her self-rescue from violence and poverty.. Her story is meant to inspire other women to do what they need to do to save their own lives. The story is set in (fictional) Hiwassee County in East Tennessee, making use of the terrain, culture, and unique Appalachian language and culture of the rural area near Knoxville, TN. Junie encounters and perseveres in East Tennessee over slimy SOB’s and small-town saints.

Intended as a beach read, it does contain intense violence and sexual situations and language which may be offensive to younger readers.
