Wednesday lunchtime, in 2023 during Term 3 and 4 at Ivanhoe Grammar Schoo, l became a wonderful opportunity for a small group of Grade 6 students to explore and expand their writing as members of the Writers Club. This is a collection of the poetry produced by Lucy Bland, Eddie French, Issac Niu and Arendia Karasavvidis. Writers Club was facilitated by Writing Coach, Kristina Garla - writer, meditation and breathwork teacher, and our School's Communications and Marketing Manager - alongside Writing Mentor, Kym Hartnell - Teacher and Pedagogical Leader of Literature at Buckley House.

Kristina's approach is to 'write from the body' using embodiment and earth connection practices like breathwork, meditation, movement, and nature to inspire writing. Supported with the wisdom of years of teaching writing, and a passion for writing, from Kym Hartnell, our students were encouraged to explore free writing techniques to discover the possibility of their personal writing styles and to grow their confidence.
