Now a grown up, Evee-Rose returns to Great Britain with her parents, and as there are dark clouds of war looming over her beloved homeland, the country’s people are making preparations for the dire struggle ahead. In order to help her country she joins the Women’s Land Army and finds work on the beautiful Irisdale Farm, and Narrowboat Natalie becomes her home. Evee realizes how both farm and domestic animals thorughout Great Britain are so important to the war effort, and how without them the war would be lost. She meets Mark Wrottesley, a pilot, who captures her heart. During the hard and bitter years of war she starts to cherish those people around her, and she witnesses the way complete strangers join as one and are prepared to lay down their lives to protect her and her country.
