In the year 2454, Hames Naughton and the crew of the Medens are repairing space, hoping to clear a path to the Mermai colony, a settlement twenty light years from Earth. Decades before, mankind conquered the boundaries of its galaxy through the use of particle conversion drives, only for a ‘cataclysmic’ event to ignite and break the space between Earth and its colonies. Family and friends are now infinitely set apart, leaving Earth to embrace a new view harmony and connection, Universal Direction. As the Medens approaches one of the last reachable outposts from Earth, the crew struggle through the dangers of repairing the galaxy whilst the boundaries of energy and light blur further into their day-to-day lives. Hames’ distrust of Universal Direction and its approach to a harmonious society begins to affect his relationships with those around him and threatens the mission of the Medens. Further placing into jeopardy his long held hope that repairing space will bring an end to a search that has lasted since the day of the Cataclysm
