We follow Jack and his close-knit group of mates, through months of gruelling training before they finally reach the battlefields of France, and discover for themselves, the harsh reality of war.
Meanwhile, Jess is dealing with issues at home, while she waits for news from the Front. Her chance encounter with an itinerant ex-soldier, leads her into situations she could not possibly have imagined, with catastrophic results.
Finally the war ends in November 1918, and the long anticipated homecoming takes an unexpected turn.
