Tales of a frontier cavalryman are related, as told by his daughter. The stories come from the descriptions of Maj. Gen. Guy Edward Carleton, a graduate of West Point in 1883, who served in the U.S. Army during late struggles with Native Americans, in Cuba and the Philippines, and in WWI. Included are childhood stories growing up in Austin Texas, adventures in the West, and life in the military.
