A swimming mishap during her eighth birthday pool party launches Jamylah into an astral projection, an out of body experience, where she meets Temuh the Giant in spirit. Temuh, the twelve foot tall Tallagewi humanoid Giant with double rows of teeth conscripts Jamylah in the recovery of their plundered burial mounds. Chasing her physical body to the hospital she rejoins it, to activate the MRI. She's given a clean bill of health; with no brain damage.

The next morning as she shares her mission over breakfast she's met with her fathers dismissal of Giants as childish fantansy; and her mothers defensive encouragement in support. Soon she's sharing the details of the encounter with her classmates in a show-and-tell which sends her to the fringe making her a laughing stock. Jamylah prevails and despite continued obstacles, and a series of uncanny coincidences; makes her case. This quest results in saving the world from environmental collapse.
