I knew the best way forward was to start putting words to paper and exercise my brain when all I wanted to do was check out and bury my head under the covers. I realized that getting my thoughts down wouldn’t be easy but that it was an important enough topic to give it my best effort. I also wanted to provide my kids (and perhaps their families, one day) with an account of who I was and what I had endured during a difficult period in my life. I wanted to leave something behind. This book chronicles the struggles I faced coming off a doctor-prescribed benzodiazepine told alongside my more memorable life experiences. I soon discovered that writing this memoir was as much about hope and finding meaning as it was the need for me to feel well. And to live my life to the fullest, regardless of circumstances, so that others may benefit.
