Originally published in 1891. In preparing this memoir, the prevailing desire of the compiler has been to make Mr. Cobb, as far as possible, tell the story of his own life, and portray his own character. With this end in view, all quotations, letters, and sketches have been gathered, which in any way identified with his own life, or which helped to reveal some personal characteristic.
