Ives Studies

Ives Studies is a collection of essays on the life and music of American composer Charles Ives (1874-1954). In it, leading scholars address significant issues in Ives scholarship, including the hotly debated chronology of his work, the nature of his compositional philosophy and style, and his place in music history. The essays take their place in a rapidly growing Ives literature that is finally starting to understand and demythologise a most complex man, and that has brought new enlightenment to a stunningly original body of music.
