The author was one of three physicists from Victoria University of Wellington who towed a magnetometer behind the ship to gather early information about the mid-ocean ridge which continues to drive New Zealand apart from Antarctica. The book contains photos and memories of the ship's voyage, of the US McMurdo Station and of the NZ Scott Base.
