Vocabulary Mastery 2: Using and Learning the Academic Word List

This title presents vocabulary and academic skills with a U.S. culture context. Research suggests that students who master the Academic Word List will be able to understand 95 per cent of all texts they encounter as a university student. Each book in the Vocabulary Mastery series focuses on teaching and practicing about 200 words from the Academic Word List.Theme-based units familiarize students with some history and high-interest aspects about American culture and famour Americans; Vocabulary Mastery 2 unit themes are: business, the civil rights movement, baseball, the women’s movement, serving one’s country, and women in art. Each unit contains three readings and activities that check comprehension, teach and reinforce word forms, and practice other strategies for learning vocabulary.
