Effective Sentences: Writing for Success

Many students struggle with writing in English, whether or not it’s a second language. The ability to write well-developed and accurate sentences is critical to writing effective paragraphs and essays. Struggling writers need to learn to produce accurate sentences that match the complexity of their thoughts. Effective Sentences uses high-interest readings, useful vocabulary, and straightforward grammar to teach sentence writing. Effective Sentences works in two parts: first, students learn to recognize basic sentence structure and closely examine the basic elements to take the mystery out of the English sentence. The students then build on this, progressing from simple sentence elements like adjectives and objects to compound and complex sentence structures.
