This title is a combination of Gordon G. Hammes’ Thermodynamics and Kinetics for the Biological Sciences and Spectroscopy for the Biological Sciences . It includes the basic principles of thermodynamics, kinetics, and spectroscopy with a minimum of mathematics and applications to the biological sciences. Exercises to assist in learning are presented at the end of each chapter. It provides biology and biochemistry professionals a guide to understanding biophysical chemistry, with focus on thermodynamics, kinetics, and spectroscopy. Coverage on spectroscopy includes an introduction to fundamentals, electronic spectra, circular dichroism and optical rotary dispersion, vibration in macromolecules (IR, Raman, etc), magnetic resonance, X ray crystallography, and mass spectrometry.
