This book presents articles on topics at the forefront of ionic liquids research that represent a cross-section of the many aspects of this burgeoning green chemistry field. The book provides information on theory and applications of ionic liquids relevant to researchers in academia and industry. Articles were written by an international group of key chemists and are based on papers presented at the first international ‘Congress on Ionic Liquids’ (COIL) held in June 2005, in Salzburg, Austria. The book editors, Prof. Ken Seddon and Prof. Robin Rogers, are indisputably the two world leaders in ionic liquids.
