Biographical Dictionary of Latin American and Caribbean Political Leaders

This is a compilation of biographical sketches of the most important Latin American and Caribbean political figures in the 19th and 20th centuries. Each entry describes the subject’s political significance as well as their career, family background, education and relevant nonpolitical activities. Appendices list the leaders according to country or territory, and provide a chronology of major events in the region from Haitian independence in 1804 to the present day. A general subject index completes the volume. This reference is intended to serve as a companion to Alexander’s Political Parties of the Americas , which was published by Greenwood Press in 1982.
