Macrohistory and Macrohistorians: Perspectives on Individual, Social, and Civilizational Change

This collection of essays seeks to provide a general theory of grand social change. The works focus on historians, from Ibn Khaldun to Oswald Spengler and from Piritim Sorokin to Arnold Toynbee, who have helped shaped our way of conceiving ourselves. The work of 20 macrohistorians is presented and compared and social macrohistory is itself explored as a metaphor for personal and world macrohistory.
