Jim Scott is a veterinary surgeon who worked in Kenya, having qualified in 1966. His early career is described in 'Mating Lions' and 'Fiona'. Fiona, the love of his life, dies of cancer in 2012. He continues to practice in the UK, but his clandestine past catches up with him. He decides to set off on a bicycle ride from his home in Norfolk to Cape Town. He has many different companions riding with him in a relay to keep him company, including his five daughters. After a logistical problem in Northern Kenya, he is on his own, when he faces the most dangerous part, not only of this journey, but also of his life. This is the final book in the Mating Lions Trilogy.
