Pastor Robin Meyer says a new Reformation is required in which the concept of personal salvation is abandoned and the purpose of religion itself is re-imagined. The question for our time is not, what do I need to believe about Jesus to be saved Rather, we should ask, what do I need to do and be now that I’ve heard the Sermon on the Mount This book is not a call to the church to move to the far Left-rather, it is the recovery of something very old, and very true. Meyer doesn’t want to deconstruct the church, but to reconstruct it. Offering up a vision for this future church, Meyer takes core Christian concepts and recasts them in simple, straightforward language such as:

* Original Blessing, not Original Sin

* Jesus the Teacher, not the Savior

* Christianity as Compassion, not Condemnation

* Discipleship as Obedience, not Observance

* Justice as Covenant, not Control

* Prosperity as Dangerous, not Divine

* Religion as Relationship, not Righteousness
