Ma Fleur

Cinematic Orchestra

Ma Fleur is the first studio album by Jason Swinscoes ensemble since 2002s Everyday and was written as the soundtrack to an imagined film. He collaborated on his ideas for this new album with scriptwriters, who came back with short story clips in which each scene represented a story of a different time in life, expressing the emotions that underpin the journey from birth to death. Soul singer Fontella Bass; Lamb vocalist Lou Rhodes; and up-and-comer Patrick Watson are the voices of these different stages in life. Less jazzy than previous releases, Ma Fleur is at once grand and sparse, yet tender.
